I started my hexagon mini quilt around the 1st of August.  I entered it in the festival of hexagons that a 2 (w) is having on her blog. Their are so many great hexagon projects.

I used Moda pezzy prints by American Jane and Half Moon Modern Scissors.  I paper pieced them, sewed them together and hand stitched them to linen.  I ironed on 808 craft fuse by pellon to the back of the linen to stabilize it.  Linen has a lot of movement especially when hand stitching.  Then I hand stitched chevrons between each color with DMC.  To finish I bound it in black Half Moon Modern Scissors.

I made a quilt for my mother-in-law for her birthday.  It's made of voile that I purchased at Alewives Fabrics.  Most of the quilts fabric is from Tula Pink's Birds & Bees,  Amy Butler's Cameo, and some AMH from my stash.  I love how it turned out, voile is great to work with if you don't use other fabrics with it, if you do you need to be careful of the movement.  I bought a 54"x 54" piece of Tula Pink voile for the back.  It's just the right size to snuggle under and read a book. Mum loved it.
Another beautiful day on the coast.  What a stretch of weather we have had this August.

I went to Alewives Fabrics on the 4th and bought some fabric to make a quilt for my mother in law's birthday.  I LOVE this store.  It has so many modern fabrics.  They are also having a Mid-Summer Clearance for all online customers August 10th thru the 12th.  20% OFF all fabric.  They had a Mid-Summer Clearance for in store purchases last weekend lucky for me.

Heather Ross's Nursery Versery, Tula Pink's Birds and Bees, and Amy Butler's Cameo just arrived over the last few weeks.  Alewives is also hosting Denyse Schmidt on August 18th and 19th for Improvisational Patchwork classes.  The 18th Alewives will launch Chicopee, Denyse Schmidt's new fabric line and also Denyse will be there for a book signing.  I can't wait to see it and get started on a new project.
